Egypt Activates Central Department for Non-Conventional Water Resources
Egypt has approved the activation of the Central Department for Non-Conventional Water Resources to enhance water management. This initiative aims to integrate non-conventional resources into the national water balance, supporting the Egyptian Water System 2.0 framework.

The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation in Egypt has approved a roadmap for establishing the Central Department for Non-Conventional Water Resources. This department will focus on managing treated agricultural drainage, expanding desalination technologies, and developing systems for rainwater and flash flood harvesting.
The initiative is part of a strategy to institutionalize non-conventional water management and improve efficiency within the national water framework. A committee assessed the department's structure and responsibilities, culminating in a proposal for three specialized general departments and a Technical Coordination and Institutional Relations department. Immediate activation steps will commence, emphasizing governance and inter-agency cooperation.
