Egypt and Bahrain Sign 8 MoUs to Enhance Economic and Strategic Cooperation
Egypt and Bahrain have signed eight memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to deepen bilateral ties across multiple sectors. Key agreements include a partnership for an alumina refinery project and frameworks to promote investment and trade, aiming to boost economic growth and collaboration.

Egypt and Bahrain formalized eight memorandums of understanding (MoUs) focused on economic and institutional collaboration. A significant agreement between Egyptalum and Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) aims to develop an alumina refinery, enhancing Egypt's role in the aluminum value chain.
The General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) and Bahrain's Economic Development Board (EDB) established a framework to attract Gulf and Asian investments. Further cooperation includes customs agreements to streamline processes and an MoU between competition authorities to ensure market fairness.
Cultural collaboration was also emphasized, including joint efforts in heritage preservation. Bilateral trade was reported at $460 million in 2024, indicating potential for growth if the MoUs are implemented effectively.
