Egypt Approves Kemet's Renewable Projects, Aims for 42% Renewable Energy by 2030
The Egyptian Cabinet has authorized Kemet Industries Group to implement four renewable projects, including two solar plants and a battery storage system, expecting completion by 2027. A MoU with China's TBEA aims to localize solar equipment manufacturing. Additionally, EETC launched a tender for a 500 MW solar project in the West Nile region, with bids due by May 11, 2026, supporting Egypt's goal of achieving 42% renewable energy by 2030.

The Egyptian Cabinet approved four renewable energy projects led by Kemet Industries Group, including two solar power plants (320 MW and 400 MW) in Bahariya Oasis and a 2,000 MW solar plant in Nagaa Hammadi, along with a 2,000 MWh battery storage system. Agreements with relevant authorities for land and electricity purchase were authorized.
The projects are expected to commence operation in 2027. A MoU with China's TBEA aims to localize solar equipment production. Concurrently, EETC issued a tender for a 500 MW solar plant in West Nile, with bids due by May 11, 2026, part of Egypt's strategy to increase renewable energy to 42% by 2030.
