Egypt Launches Solar Initiative for Factory Energy Efficiency
Egypt's Ministry of Industry is implementing the 'Industry Sun' initiative, targeting a 25% reduction in natural gas and 15% in electricity use across ceramics and sanitary ware factories. This program aims to enhance industrial competitiveness and reduce carbon emissions, with a goal of installing 1,000 MW of solar systems on rooftops, leveraging unused space and local solar resources.

The 'Industry Sun' initiative in Egypt aims to install 1,000 MW of solar energy systems on factory rooftops, focusing initially on ceramics and sanitary ware sectors. Manufacturers are expected to develop action plans to reduce natural gas use by 25% and electricity consumption by 15%, promoting energy efficiency.
The initiative involves collaboration with equipment manufacturers and energy service companies. It addresses competitive challenges faced by factories, particularly in export markets, where energy efficiency and carbon emissions are increasingly scrutinized.
Successful implementation could create a local market for solar energy services and reduce strain on the national grid during peak demand periods. Financial support and streamlined processes will be critical for widespread adoption among factories.
