Egypt's Water Minister Advances Digital Transformation at Survey Authority
The Egyptian Survey Authority is undergoing significant digital transformation, with a focus on improving citizen interaction and operational efficiency. This initiative is part of the Water System 2.0 strategy aimed at establishing ESA as the national reference for digital spatial data.

On April 28, 2026, Minister Hani Sewilam outlined a digital transformation strategy for the Egyptian Survey Authority (ESA) to enhance communication and operational efficiency. Current digitization efforts include completing digital text data for permanent stations and a geospatial database for real estate, with scanning of existing maps at 30% completion.
Proposed actions involve establishing data centers and a comprehensive plan for full digitization of services across all directorates. The minister emphasized the need for a detailed roadmap covering equipment, infrastructure, and staffing, while assessing expected benefits in technical and economic terms. This initiative aims to streamline processes and support national projects.
