Eins Energie Secures €1.6M for Green Hydrogen Electrolyser Project in Chemnitz
Eins Energie has secured approximately €1.6 million for the construction of a hydrogen electrolyser and the conversion of natural gas pipelines for green hydrogen use in Chemnitz, supported by the Free State of Saxony. This project, part of a national initiative to establish hydrogen centres, aims to bolster Chemnitz's role as a research hub and ensure a stable hydrogen supply until the 2030s. The funding comes from the EU's Just Transition Fund, contributing to a broader €645 million investment in Saxon lignite regions for structural changes by 2027.

Eins Energie, an energy supplier in Chemnitz, is receiving approximately €1.6 million for the construction of a hydrogen electrolyser and the conversion of natural gas pipelines for green hydrogen use. This initiative, supported by the Free State of Saxony, is part of the development of the first of four new hydrogen centres established nationwide.
The project aims to strengthen Chemnitz as a research hub and support the hydrogen industry in Saxony. The electrolyser will have a capacity of 240 kilowatts, with a stationary hydrogen storage unit capable of holding 115 cubic metres.
The funding is sourced from the EU's Just Transition Fund to facilitate the transition to a climate-neutral economy. The green hydrogen project will ensure a stable hydrogen supply in Chemnitz until the 2030s, with potential for future expansion. Overall, Saxon lignite regions will receive €645 million in EU funding for structural changes by 2027.
