Eku Energy Proposes Two 300 MW Battery Projects in Australia
Eku Energy seeks federal approval for two four-hour battery projects, targeting operational status by 2027 and 2028. The projects are part of a broader strategy to enhance energy storage capacity in New South Wales and Victoria as coal power declines.

Eku Energy is pursuing federal approval for two new battery projects: the Wongalea battery in New South Wales and the Tramway Road battery in Victoria, both with capacities of 300 MW and 1200 MWh. The Wongalea project, located near a historic abattoir, is expected to commence operations by 2028, while the Tramway Road project is anticipated to be operational by 2027.
Extensive biodiversity surveys indicate no significant environmental issues at these sites, aligning with current energy transition efforts as coal power declines in the regions. Eku Energy has a total of seven battery projects in various planning stages, one under construction, and one operational, signaling a robust investment in energy storage solutions.
