El Paso Electric and Base Power Launch Home Battery System Program to Support Grid Reliability
ENERGY STORAGE
El Paso Electric (EPE) and Base Power have introduced a pilot program to install home battery systems in residential properties to alleviate grid pressure during high demand periods. The program aims to deploy up to 10 MW of residential energy storage by 2026, enhancing grid reliability and providing backup power during outages.
Homeowners can participate at no cost and may receive financial incentives totaling up to $500. EPE will oversee battery management, while Base Power is responsible for installation and maintenance. Participants must agree to host the systems for 10 years, with penalties for early termination.
