ENERGY STORAGESTRATEGIC MINERALS
Electra Battery Materials Corporation has awarded a contract worth $8.3 million to EXP Services Inc. for engineering and project management services to finish its cobalt refinery project south of Temiskaming Shores. The company aims for mechanical completion in the first half of 2027, with commissioning and production to follow.
The project was previously halted in 2023 due to inflation and cash constraints. Electra plans to produce 5,100 tonnes per year of battery-grade cobalt sulfate, increasing to 6,500 tonnes. Preparatory work, including procurement and construction planning, has resumed.
