Electric Metals Advances North America's Top Manganese Deposit Development
Electric Metals (USA) Limited is developing North America's highest-grade manganese deposit, the North Star Manganese Project, with a projected capacity of 100,000 tonnes per year of high-purity manganese sulfate monohydrate. This project addresses the significant domestic supply gap for manganese, essential for electric vehicle batteries and steel production, amid increasing demand expected to triple by 2030.

Electric Metals (USA) Limited is advancing the North Star Manganese Project in Minnesota, which has an Indicated resource of 7.6 million tonnes at 19.07% manganese. The project aims to produce 100,000 tonnes of high-purity manganese sulfate monohydrate annually, addressing the U.S.'s complete reliance on imported manganese.
Current projections indicate battery demand for manganese could triple by 2030, driven by the growth of nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery technologies. With no domestic manganese production, geopolitical risks from reliance on Chinese supplies pose a significant threat to U.S. energy security.
The project has a robust economic outlook with an after-tax NPV of $1.39 billion and IRR of 43.5%. Immediate action is needed to establish a secure supply chain for manganese to support the clean energy transition.
