Electric Substation Project Approved in Castelletto Area
A public land transfer has been approved for an electric substation to serve data centers in Castelletto, generating €167,000 for the municipality and €700,000 in compensation for sports investments. This development responds to a decree from the Ministry of Environment and Energy Policies, highlighting the ongoing expansion of infrastructure in urbanized areas.

The municipal council of Settimo Milanese has approved the voluntary transfer of public land for an electric substation requested by two private data center operators. The project covers approximately 8,000 square meters, including 2,800 square meters of public land currently used as a softball field.
The municipality will receive €167,000 and €700,000 in compensations for sports initiatives. Discussions regarding the use of these funds are ongoing. Although the council majority supported the measure, there are concerns over land consumption and environmental impact, as the project follows a government decree declaring public utility. The administration believes it secured a better financial outcome than an expropriation would have provided.
