Elm Mott Residents Oppose Water Supply Partnership for Proposed $10 Billion AI Data Center
Residents of Elm Mott, Texas, voiced strong opposition to a proposed $10 billion AI data center during a recent meeting, citing concerns over the facility's projected daily water demand of 15 million gallons, which far exceeds the area's current supply. They fear that this could deplete local resources, lower water pressure, and potentially contaminate the water supply, while also impacting wildlife and public health. Opponents plan to further express their concerns at an upcoming city council meeting.

Residents of Elm Mott, Texas, opposed a proposed $10 billion artificial intelligence data center during a recent meeting with the Elm Mott Water Corporation. The facility, planned for a 520-acre site near Taylor Lane, is projected to require 15 million gallons of water daily to operate.
In January, the Elm Mott Water Corporation pumped a total of 5.9 million gallons. Residents expressed concerns that supplying water for the data center could deplete local resources, lower water pressure, and contaminate the water supply.
They also raised issues regarding potential impacts on wildlife, agriculture, and public health. Opponents plan to attend the upcoming Lacy Lakeview city council meeting to voice their concerns further.
