EMC Meeting Advances Strategic Priorities for European Railways
The European Management Committee (EMC) convened in Paris on June 8, 2026, to assess progress on strategic railway priorities for 2026-2027. Key focuses include standardisation, resilience, digitalisation, and data interoperability critical for the future of the sector.

The EMC of the UIC European Region met to review strategic priorities for the railway sector, reaffirming their commitment to system-critical transformations. Andreas Matthä, CEO of ÖBB, was nominated as the fourth representative on the UIC Executive Board, joining other leaders.
The committee discussed ongoing standardisation efforts and the RERA Hub, which addresses resilience and climate adaptation through business continuity and asset protection. Additional discussions emphasized the importance of railway ontologies for digitalisation, with plans for a workshop to enhance knowledge sharing among member companies.
The meeting highlighted best practices from the aerospace sector that could inform railway digitalisation and asset management. This reflects EMC's shift towards practical implementation of railway priorities.
