Enapter Supplies 2.5MW AEM Electrolyser for Rotterdam Green Hydrogen Project
Enapter will provide a 2.5MW AEM electrolyser for a green hydrogen demonstration in Rotterdam, as part of the Smart Hydrogen Hub initiative. This project aims to integrate renewables, energy storage, and hydrogen production for various industrial applications.

Enapter's Nexus 2500 AEM electrolyser system will be integrated into the Smart Hydrogen Hub (SHH) initiative in Rotterdam. The project is now in the execution phase, which includes engineering, permitting, and installation.
There is currently no timeline for the start of production. AEM technology is characterized as a low-capex hydrogen production method with a smaller footprint than traditional methods. However, challenges persist, such as degradation in alkaline environments, which affects lifespan. Enapter also licensed Total Hydrogen Solutions for manufacturing and sales in the US, following a difficult financial year marked by losses of €18.1m ($21.3m).
