Energy-Efficient Data Centers to Save €25 Billion by 2030
Modernizing data centers with hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) could yield significant CO2 reductions and cost savings. By 2030, the EMEA region may see a reduction of 19 million tons of CO2 emissions and €25 billion in savings due to improved energy efficiency.

The transition to hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) is projected to save over 92 TWh of electricity across the EMEA region by 2030, beginning in 2024. This shift could result in a financial benefit of up to €25 billion.
Energy usage in data centers in EMEA exceeds 98 TWh annually, comparable to Belgium's total energy consumption. The adoption of HCI can reduce energy consumption by more than 27% annually, aiding both operational cost reductions and emissions decreases.
Specifically, in the Netherlands, potential electricity savings from this transition could total €1.7 billion by 2030. Increased regulatory pressures from the NIS2 directive and ESG reporting will necessitate energy efficiency as a critical operational requirement, rather than just a sustainability goal.
