Engelhart and Partners Launch Onshore Wind Farms in Germany's aFRR Market
Engelhart, Gridfuse, ENERCON, and nttb have successfully launched onshore wind farms featuring ENERCON turbines in Germany's automatic frequency restoration reserve (aFRR) market, marking the first approval for such a wind farm pool since December 2025. This initiative follows Engelhart's prior offering of 100 MW from 20 wind farms in the minute control reserve (mFRR) market and aims to enhance grid stabilization while creating new revenue opportunities by potentially replacing gas-fired power plants.

Engelhart, Gridfuse, ENERCON, and nttb have achieved a milestone by marketing onshore wind farms with ENERCON turbines in Germany's automatic frequency restoration reserve (aFRR) market under TenneT Germany since December 2025. This is the first approval for an onshore wind farm pool for aFRR in Germany.
Engelhart previously offered 100 MW from 20 wind farms in the minute control reserve (mFRR) market since February 2025. The collaboration involved overcoming challenges in pre-qualification and technology development, enabling older wind farms to participate in the control reserve market. The initiative aims to utilize wind farms for grid stabilisation, potentially replacing conventional gas-fired power plants and creating new revenue opportunities.
