ENGIE Begins 140 MW Wind Power Supply to Sonoco in Texas under VPPA

WIND ENERGY

ENGIE North America has commenced the delivery of 140 MW of electricity from its Big Sampson Wind Project in Texas to Sonoco under a 15-year Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA). This agreement covers over 80% of Sonoco's US electricity needs and is projected to account for about 83% of its electricity consumption in 2025.

The project, comprising 60 wind turbines with a capacity of 4.5 MW each, aims to support Sonoco's target to reduce global Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 25% by 2030. The renewable energy credits from the VPPA are expected to help decrease Sonoco's carbon emissions by approximately 19%.
