Environmental Clearance for Ratle Hydropower Project Extended to 2030
The Expert Appraisal Committee of India's Ministry of Forests, Environment & Climate Change has extended the environmental clearance for the 850-MW Ratle hydroelectric project to December 11, 2030, with a potential two-year extension. Initially granted in 2012, the clearance was paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic, prompting the Ratle Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited to seek an extension, which the EAC approved.

The Expert Appraisal Committee of India's Ministry of Forests, Environment & Climate Change extended the environmental clearance for the 850-MW Ratle hydroelectric project until December 11, 2030, with a possible two-year extension. The clearance was initially granted on December 12, 2012, but was paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Ratle Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited, a joint venture of the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation and Jammu & Kashmir State Power Development Corporation, submitted a proposal for the extension, citing a four-year project halt. The EAC accepted this justification and confirmed the new validity period.
