EPBiH Advances Solar Initiatives at Coal Plants and Rooftops in Bosnia and Herzegovina
EPBiH is implementing solar projects with a total capacity of 18.29 MW across coal power plants and prosumer rooftops, supported by the World Bank. These initiatives aim to reduce coal consumption and promote renewable energy within the region.

EPBiH plans to construct solar power plants at the Kakanj and Tuzla coal-fired power plants, featuring combined capacities of 10.29 MWp and 806 kWp respectively, along with energy storage systems. The Prosumers 5000+ initiative, valued at EUR 10 million, will install rooftop solar systems across approximately 2,200 households, totaling about 9 MW (11 MWp).
Additionally, a procurement process for rooftop solar installations at ten locations, with a total capacity of 935 kW, is underway, valued at EUR 1.5 million. Public consultations for these projects are set for April 27-29. This shift towards renewable energy may mitigate reliance on coal and enhance energy sustainability in the region.
