EPC Develops 6 kW GaN-Based Converter for AI Server Infrastructure Using 800 VDC Architecture

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

EPC, in collaboration with NVIDIA, has designed a 6 kW, 800 VDC to 12.5 VDC converter utilizing an ISOP LLC topology for next-generation AI server infrastructure. This low-profile converter, which fits within a 5,000 mm² footprint and 8 mm thickness, is crucial for meeting the megawatt-scale power demands of modern AI systems.

The design leverages EPC's GaN devices, achieving nearly 98% peak efficiency and 97% at full load. The shift to an 800 VDC architecture allows for more efficient power transmission with fewer conversion stages, enhancing space efficiency in data center racks.

The modular design of the converter, divided into eight blocks, simplifies voltage conversion and reduces costs. This solution is positioned to address the growing energy requirements of AI technologies effectively.
