Epic Energy and REFNIC to Develop 10 MWh Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling Plant in India

ENERGY STORAGESTRATEGIC MINERALSCIRCULAR ECONOMY & RECYCLING

Epic Energy Limited and REFNIC, a brand of Zetrance Technology, are collaborating to establish lithium-ion battery recycling and second-life battery applications in India through their Special Purpose Vehicle, Swachchha Urja Nirman LLP (SUN LLP). REFNIC will serve as the technical partner for design and implementation.

The project includes a lithium-ion battery shredding facility and a second-life battery assembly plant with a processing capacity of approximately 10 MWh per month. This initiative aims to enhance the recycling and repurposing of end-of-life lithium-ion batteries.

Epic Energy’s first facility will be located in Wada, Maharashtra, featuring a shredding plant capable of processing 500 kg per hour of black-mass and a second-life battery line targeting 10 MWh per month. The collaboration follows a prior Technology Transfer Agreement with the Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology (C-MET) focused on recycling assorted lithium-ion batteries.
