Equinix and ENEOS Sign Japan's Largest 121 MW Solar VPPA
Equinix has signed a 15-year, 121-MW virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with ENEOS, marking the largest VPPA in Japan. The agreement, commencing in January 2027, will provide Equinix with environmental attributes from the Sanda Mega Solar Power Plant in Hyogo, supporting data-center operations and decarbonization efforts while ensuring revenue stability for ENEOS.

Equinix has entered into a 15-year, 121-MW virtual power purchase agreement with ENEOS, the largest VPPA in Japan. Effective January 2027, Equinix will obtain Non-FIT Non-Fossil Certificates from ENEOS's Sanda Mega Solar Power Plant, which has been operational since August 2023 and generates approximately 148.25 million kWh annually.
This agreement addresses the increasing electricity demands of data centers while enhancing Equinix's decarbonization initiatives. It highlights the importance of VPPAs in providing reliable energy procurement amid grid limitations and offers developers long-term revenue certainty for their operations.
