Equinix Invests $43 Million for Fourth Data Center in Tokyo

Equinix announced a $43 million investment to establish its fourth International Business Exchange (IBX) data center in Tokyo's Ōtemachi area. The new TY4 facility, supported by Mitsubishi Estate, will be developed in two phases, with the first phase expected to open in Q3 2013 and provide 450 cabinet equivalents.

The total capacity will reach 750 cabinet equivalents. The data center will connect to Equinix's existing facilities in Tokyo, enhancing customer interconnections. The data center outsourcing market in Japan is projected to reach $20 billion by 2015 with a CAGR of 8.6%. The colocation market is expected to reach $9.26 billion with a CAGR of 4.2% during the same period.
