Equinix Invests Over $9 Million to Support Clean Energy Transition in Singapore
Equinix, Inc. announced a funding commitment exceeding S$9 million through 2028 to support Singapore's clean energy transition, aligned with the Singapore Green Plan 2030. This initiative aims to diversify the energy mix by exploring cleaner sources and technologies such as hydrogen, geothermal energy, and carbon capture.
Singapore aims to import up to 4 gigawatts of low-carbon electricity by 2035, making up about 30 percent of its projected electricity supply. Five organizations have received grants, including the Centre for Strategic Energy and Resources, Nanyang Technological University, and the National University of Singapore Energy Studies Institute, to conduct research on nuclear power, geothermal energy, and hydrogen supply chains.
