Hornbeck Offshore Partners with Deployable Energy for Maritime Nuclear Applications
Hornbeck Offshore is collaborating with Deployable Energy to integrate micro-reactors into maritime vessels, enhancing energy capabilities. This partnership aims to develop applications for inland waterways, offshore platforms, and floating data centers, amidst rising demand for sustainable energy solutions.

Hornbeck Offshore is investing in Deployable Energy to integrate a 1-megawatt micro-reactor into maritime operations, with potential applications across various waterborne platforms. Deployable Energy's technology has received Approval in Principle from Lloyds Register, while Karpowership plans a $3 billion investment in a facility in Brownsville, Texas, to support floating data centers.
Karpowership's subsidiary signed a deal with Mitsui OSK Lines to construct an LNG-powered floating data center. The U.S. Department of Transportation is collaborating with the Port of Corpus Christi on small modular reactor technology for maritime use, reflecting growing interest in nuclear solutions for energy-intensive data centers.
