Equinix Plans Data Center Expansion in the Philippines to Meet Demand
Equinix, Inc. is set to expand its data center capacity in the Philippines, having launched operations in 2025 with facilities in Cavite and Makati. The Philippines is viewed as a strategic data center hub in Asia, complementing Equinix's operations in Malaysia and Indonesia. The company's Philippine facilities currently have 35,000 square feet of colocation space and a capacity of 1,000 data cabinets. The growth is driven by demand from the IT-BPO and banking sectors, with the country's data center capacity projected to reach 1.5 GW by 2028.

The digital economy is anticipated to grow significantly, reaching between $70 billion and $140 billion in gross merchandise value by 2030.
