DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

Equinix, Inc. plans to expand its data center operations in the Philippines, launched in 2025 with three facilities in Cavite and Makati. The Philippines is strategically positioned to be a data center hub in Asia, complementing Equinix's existing operations in Malaysia and Indonesia.

The facilities offer 35,000 square feet of colocation space and a total capacity of 1,000 data cabinets. Demand from the IT-BPO, telecommunications, and banking sectors is driving growth, supported by the Department of Information and Communications Technology's projection of data center capacity reaching 1.5 GW by 2028. The digital economy is anticipated to grow significantly, reaching between $70 billion and $140 billion in gross merchandise value by 2030.
