ERG Africa and EGC Sign MoU for Responsible Artisanal Cobalt Mining in DRC
Eurasian Resources Group (ERG Africa) and Entreprise Générale du Cobalt (EGC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding at Mining Indaba 2026 to promote sustainable artisanal cobalt mining in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). This MoU establishes a public-private partnership focused on formalizing and professionalizing artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM), granting EGC mining rights in Lualaba Province. The initiative aims to improve working conditions, enhance environmental protection, and ensure supply chain traceability.

ERG Africa and EGC signed a Memorandum of Understanding at Mining Indaba 2026 to enhance sustainable artisanal cobalt mining in the DRC. The MoU, part of a public-private partnership, grants EGC mining rights in Lualaba Province and aims to formalize artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM).
The pilot project will improve working conditions, reduce risks associated with informal mining, and strengthen social cohesion. Implementation will involve various regulatory authorities and support from GIZ. The initiative aligns with the DRC government's strategy for a transparent mining sector.
