Erie County Installs Viridi Battery Backup System at Wastewater Pumping Station to Enhance Infrastructure
Viridi has deployed a 150 kWh battery energy storage system (BESS) at a wastewater pumping station in Erie County, New York. This project aims to reduce reliance on diesel generators, lowering operational costs and emissions while providing 32-90 hours of backup power. The installation is part of Erie County's strategy to enhance public infrastructure and environmental sustainability.

Viridi has successfully deployed a 150 kWh battery energy storage system (BESS) at a wastewater pumping station in Erie County Sewer District No. 2, Hamburg, New York. The system provides 32-90 hours of backup power, replacing diesel generators and reducing operational costs and emissions.
This initiative supports Erie County's climate and energy goals, enhancing the reliability of essential services. The BESS features real-time monitoring to improve operational efficiency and reduce maintenance needs. The project serves as a model for future installations across the region, where nearly 100 similar pump stations exist.
