ESA Awards Contract to OKAPI:Orbits, TU Braunschweig, and DLR for Space-Air Traffic Integration Project
The European Space Agency has contracted OKAPI:Orbits to lead a project focused on integrating space traffic coordination with air traffic management, in collaboration with TU Braunschweig and DLR. The initiative addresses the need for coordinated operations as launch rates rise and spacecraft re-entries increase. Key challenges include defining operational scenarios and developing tools for dynamic responses to space activities, ultimately enhancing near-real-time decision-making and safety in aerospace operations.

The European Space Agency has awarded a contract to OKAPI:Orbits for a project aimed at integrating space traffic coordination with air traffic management. Collaborating with TU Braunschweig and DLR, the project addresses the increasing interactions between space launches and civil aviation.
It focuses on defining operational scenarios, quantifying uncertainties, and developing tools for dynamic air traffic management responses. The initiative will support both standard and emergency conditions, providing prototype software for actionable insights and decision-making. The collaboration leverages TU Braunschweig's expertise in orbital dynamics and DLR's air traffic management technologies, alongside OKAPI:Orbits' experience in space traffic management.
