Estonia Advances Baltic Defense Line with New Bunkers and Trenches
Estonia is investing up to €60 million to enhance its Baltic Defense Line, constructing 600 bunkers and extensive anti-tank ditches. This initiative aims to strengthen border defenses against potential threats from neighboring countries.

Estonia is developing its Baltic Defense Line with a budget of €60 million, focusing on 600 bunkers and over 10 kilometers of anti-tank ditches. In Setomaa, 28 bunkers have been installed, with additional structures, including dragon's teeth and anti-personnel mines planned.
However, some officials express concerns about the dimensions and effectiveness of the trenches, suggesting they should be deeper and wider for improved functionality. The current defensive strategy emphasizes slowing advancing forces rather than outright stopping them, with resources limiting the extent of improvements. The ongoing construction reflects a broader regional effort, involving Latvia and Lithuania, to bolster defenses against potential aggressors.
