ENERGY STORAGE
The construction of a 100 MW / 200 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Tsirguliina, Valga County, will commence in February 2026, led by Diotech OÜ and Transcom AS. The Zirgu project aims to mitigate price volatility in the Estonian and Baltic electricity markets.
The initial investment of approximately 35 million euros has been secured, with potential for expansion to 200 MW and 800 MWh, making it the largest battery facility in the Baltics. Completion of the first phase is targeted for March 2027, with technology provided by LG Energy Solution. The project emphasizes local ownership and aims to retain economic value within Estonia.
