Estonia Launches 100 MW Hertz 2 Battery Storage Park
The Hertz 2 battery storage park in Estonia, with a capacity of 100 MW and 200 MWh, is now operational. This facility, part of the Baltic Storage Platform joint venture, enhances the stability of the Baltic electricity grid and represents a significant €170 million investment in the region's energy sector.

The Hertz 2 battery storage facility in Harju County has been inaugurated, contributing 100 megawatts to the Baltic energy grid, with a total storage capacity of 200 megawatt-hours. This project, a joint venture between Evecon, Corsica Sole, and Mirova, follows Hertz 1, creating a combined capacity of 200 megawatts and addressing a significant portion of Estonia's battery storage needs.
The facilities operate to stabilize frequency and manage price fluctuations in the electricity market, especially critical after the Baltic states' decoupling from the Russian grid in February 2025. The project was financed through an €85.6 million loan from major financial institutions, highlighting the growing interest of international investors in Estonia's energy landscape. The operational success of Hertz 2 may encourage similar investments, driving further advancements in renewable energy integration.
