ETED Advances Private Investment in Energy Storage for Dominican Republic's Electrical System
ETED is structuring guidelines to attract private investment in battery energy storage systems (BESS) to enhance the Dominican electrical grid. The initiative aims to address increased demand and renewable energy integration while supporting the country's economic growth.

The Dominican Electricity Transmission Company, SA (ETED) is working on frameworks for private investment in battery energy storage systems (BESS) to enhance the National Interconnected Electric System (SENI). This initiative, led by engineer Alfonso Rodríguez Tejada, involves estimates of up to 600 MW / 1,200 MWh of energy storage capacity to stabilize the grid and improve renewable energy integration.
ETED is contracting specialized technical support to validate integration scenarios and design mechanisms for a competitive investment phase. The specialized firm will collaborate with the ETED BESS Working Group to evaluate system priorities and contributions from the private sector. This project addresses rising energy demands and the need for rapid operational responses, aligning with the country's economic growth.
