EticaAG and Shell U.K. Limited have partnered to advance battery immersion cooling technology for energy storage systems, addressing safety and thermal management issues in grid and industrial applications.

The agreement was formalized at Shell's Partnerships Powering Progress event in Abu Dhabi from December 5-7, 2025. The collaboration combines EticaAG's immersion-cooled Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) with Shell's expertise in dielectric liquids.

The initiative aims to enhance thermal stability and reduce fire risks in lithium-ion systems by submerging battery cells in a non-flammable liquid. Both companies will focus on system design, technical support, and regulatory engagement, while promoting immersion-cooled architectures to improve long-duration performance and safety. The partnership seeks to standardize advanced thermal management and leverage Shell's experience in thermal fluids for the energy-storage sector.
