EU Hydrogen Bank's Third Auction Receives Sixfold Oversubscription Focused on RFNBO Projects

The third European Hydrogen Bank auction has been oversubscribed sixfold, receiving 58 bids totaling €8.4bn, significantly exceeding its €1.3bn budget. The auction, which opened in December, focuses on projects aimed at producing hydrogen that meets the renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBO) standards. It represents around 4.3GW of electrolyser capacity and will provide fixed-premium payments per kilogramme of hydrogen to help reduce the cost difference with fossil fuels.
