EU Investments Expected for Five Mining Projects in Brazil's MG, Piauí, and Bahia

STRATEGIC MINERALS

Five mining companies in Brazil's Northeast and Southeast regions are set to receive European investment, with an announcement expected in March. This follows a November meeting between the Brazilian Agency for Export Promotion (ApexBrasil) and the EU, focusing on critical minerals like rare earths.

The projects include two in Piauí and three in Minas Gerais, with a total funding demand of approximately R$ 7 billion. Five projects were prioritized from a portfolio of 14 presented to EU funding institutions.

The Brazilian government aims to establish financing mechanisms for these strategic projects, anticipating production within two to three years for export to Europe. One identified company is Viridis Mining & Minerals, which is exploring rare earths in Minas Gerais. The Brazilian government also expects that the EU-Mercosul agreement, currently under review, will further enhance investments in critical mineral projects.
