EU Launches €105M Clean Hydrogen Call for Production, Storage, and Fuel Cell Innovations

HYDROGENFUEL CELL

The Clean Hydrogen Partnership has initiated its 2026 Call for Proposals, offering €105 million from Horizon Europe to enhance hydrogen production, storage, transport, and fuel cell technology. The funding targets projects at TRL 6-8, crucial for achieving the EU's 2050 climate neutrality goal.

Key priorities include €16 million for renewable hydrogen production, €17.5 million for storage and distribution, €25 million for fuel cells in heavy-duty transport, €16 million for heat and power applications, and €25 million for Hydrogen Valleys. The emphasis is on advancing electrolysis technology to exceed 80% efficiency and developing regional hydrogen ecosystems.

Proposals are due by mid-April 2026, requiring collaboration among entities from at least three EU countries. This initiative aims to lower costs, enhance job creation, and improve energy security while supporting the EU's strategic hydrogen roadmap.
