EU Launches Toolkit to Enhance Circular Economy for Electronics and Plastics
The INCREACE project introduces a playbook and Recyclability Assessment Tool (RAT) to promote recyclable electronic devices. This initiative supports the EU's circular economy goals, addressing recyclability from the design phase and aligning with the EU Plastics Strategy.

The INCREACE consortium has developed a playbook titled "Developing Recyclable Electronic Devices" and the Recyclability Assessment Tool (RAT) to enhance circular product design in electronics. The playbook provides practical recommendations for integrating recyclability into the initial design process, emphasizing that recyclability begins with product conception.
This initiative aligns with the EU's efforts to improve recycling standards and promote the use of recycled materials, as highlighted by EU Commissioner Jessika Roswall's call for coordinated action on plastics. The RAT tool enables early identification of design issues that may hinder recyclability, thus facilitating better product development. The project's culmination will be marked with an event in Brussels on May 20, 2026.
