Eurofighter Typhoon Celebrates 32nd Anniversary of First Flight at Manching Air Base, Germany
On March 27, 1994, the Eurofighter Typhoon prototype made its first flight at Manching Air Base in Bavaria, Germany. Developed by a consortium of Germany, the UK, Italy, and Spain, the jet has become a cornerstone of European air forces, with over 680 units ordered. Eurofighter Typhoon is set to remain operational until at least 2050, with significant economic contributions and job security projected in Germany and Spain. Airbus and its partners are planning future upgrades and additional orders to maintain production capabilities.

The Eurofighter Typhoon prototype had its maiden flight on March 27, 1994, at Manching Air Base, Germany. Developed by Airbus, BAE Systems, and Leonardo, it serves as a multi-role combat aircraft for air-to-air and air-to-ground missions.
As of now, 680 units have been ordered by nine countries. The jet is projected to support European air forces until 2050, with ongoing upgrades planned, including the Eurofighter LTE program. Future orders for Tranche 5 are anticipated to fill production gaps. The program secures 100,000 jobs across Europe, contributing significantly to the economies of Germany and Spain.
