Europe Allocates €2.7 Billion for 54 Net-Zero Innovation Projects Across 17 Countries
The Innovation Fund has approved 54 projects totaling €2.7 billion in funding to advance net-zero technologies in Europe. The projects span 17 countries and 17 industrial sectors, including energy-intensive industries and clean mobility solutions. They aim to prevent about 210 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions over their first decade. Additionally, six reserve projects could receive up to €491 million, with potential emissions reductions of 20 million tonnes. The European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) will oversee project implementation.

The Innovation Fund has signed grant agreements for 54 projects under the 2024 Call for Net-Zero Technologies (IF24), collectively receiving €2.7 billion in funding. These projects span 17 countries and sectors, focusing on industries like cement, renewable energy, and clean mobility.
They are expected to prevent around 210 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions in their first decade. Six additional projects from the reserve list may gain up to €491 million. These projects will focus on renewable energy component manufacturing and lithium refining and could avoid 20 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions.
The European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) will manage the funded projects. The next funding call, IF25, is open until April 23, 2026.
