European TSO Evaluates Hydrogen Network Expansion Using Optioneer
A European Transmission System Operator (TSO) utilized Optioneer to assess hydrogen network needs across 10,000 km of corridors. The analysis supports national strategies and aligns with the EU's goal of a 53,000 km hydrogen backbone by 2040.

Optioneer has been employed by a major European TSO for a comprehensive evaluation of hydrogen network development across various scenarios. The assessment covers over 10,000 km of strategic corridors, focusing on reinforcement and expansion needs for hydrogen production, transport, and end-use.
This initiative aligns with the UK Hydrogen Strategy and the Hydrogen Transport & Storage Business Model (HTBM). The EU Hydrogen Backbone aims for 53,000 km by 2040, with approximately 60% of the infrastructure being repurposed and 40% newly constructed. This strategic planning could enhance regional energy security and facilitate the transition to a low-carbon economy.
