Eurowind Energy Plans €300 Million Annual Investment in Romanian Renewable Projects
Eurowind Energy is investing €300 million annually in Romania, focusing on wind and battery projects. The company aims to address energy demands while navigating regulatory challenges and delays, emphasizing the urgency of renewable energy amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.

Eurowind Energy plans an annual investment of €300 million in Romania, including the operationalization of the 48 MW Pecineaga wind farm and a 120 MW battery project at Teiuș. The company also has a pipeline project of 261 MW and aims to execute a significant 1.2 GW wind project in Botoșani, potentially the largest onshore wind project in Europe.
However, delays due to bureaucratic hurdles have resulted in nearly two years of setbacks. Regulatory changes, such as increasing connection guarantees from 5% to 20%, may filter out speculative projects but could also deter serious developers. As reliance on imported fossil fuels exposes Europe to price shocks, strengthening local renewable energy capabilities is critical.
