Eversource to Enhance Power Infrastructure in Provincetown and Truro
Eversource plans upgrades to power poles along Shore Road, enhancing stability and reducing outages for Provincetown and Truro. Improvements are expected within 12 months following analysis of performance during recent storms.

Eversource is set to upgrade power infrastructure along Shore Road, with a focus on enhancing the stability of poles and wiring to prevent outages in Provincetown and Truro. The upgrades are scheduled for completion within a year, following a report on the February 23 blizzard's impact, which highlighted vulnerabilities in the existing power lines.
The company is also evaluating the implementation of stronger coastal designs and alternative materials for poles. Eversource's Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), operational since December 2022, has provided power during multiple outages, demonstrating its effectiveness against disruptions.
Future efforts will include a solar project in North Truro to support battery charging. The performance of the BESS and ongoing upgrades aim to improve reliability in the region's power grid.
