EWSETA Receives €2M from EU for Critical Minerals and Battery Skills Development in South Africa
The EWSETA has secured a €2 million investment from the EU to develop demand-driven skills for South Africa's critical minerals and battery economy. This funding, under the EU Global Gateway programme, supports a national initiative for vocational training aligned with job opportunities in mining and battery value chains.
The programme, led by the CSIR with EWSETA and partners Manganese Metal Company and Frontier Rare Earths, aims to strengthen the link between skills development and industrial demand. Targeted initiatives will enhance technical and vocational education in Northern Cape and Mpumalanga, ensuring quality assurance and alignment with sector priorities.
