The Länsi-Uusimaa Police Department is investigating the incident, which caused damage to site containers and vehicles. Microsoft began developing the site in September 2023, with plans for the first facility to be operational by 2026 as part of a larger project.

An excavation incident at a Microsoft data center construction site in Vihti, Finland, injured one person on December 17. The incident occurred at approximately 11:45 am, with rubble blown outside the safety zone causing injury to an employee and damage to construction site containers and vehicles.
The Länsi-Uusimaa Police Department is investigating the incident. Microsoft began developing the Vihti site in September 2023, having acquired it for €12.3 million. The site, located on Rostintie road, is part of a larger project that includes facilities in Kirkkonummi and Espoo.
The first facility at the Vihti site is expected to be operational by 2026, with plans to expand to four buildings. Contractors Mercury and Destia are involved in the project, referred to as HEL10.
