Exide Energy Solutions to Deliver Cylindrical Cell Samples by Q1 FY27
Exide Energy Solutions Ltd will commence customer sample deliveries from its cylindrical cell lines by Q1 FY27, marking a shift to customer validation in battery cells. This initiative is part of Exide's strategy to establish a domestic lithium-ion manufacturing base amid rising demand from Indian automakers and energy providers for local battery supply chains.

Exide Energy Solutions Ltd is set to begin customer sample deliveries from its cylindrical cell lines by the first quarter of FY27. Concurrently, the prismatic cell line is expected to initiate product trials.
The company has invested Rs 600 crore in Exide Energy Solutions in Q4 FY26, totaling Rs 1,500 crore for the fiscal year, leading to an overall equity investment of Rs 4,802.23 crore in the subsidiary. Exide is developing a 12 GWh lithium-ion cell manufacturing facility, divided into two phases of 6 GWh each, supported by a technology partnership with SVOLT Energy Technology of China.
This initiative is significant as Exide aims to supply the growing markets for electric vehicles and energy storage while reducing import dependency. Competitor Amara Raja is also expanding with a 16 GWh lithium-ion cell plant, highlighting increasing domestic capacity demands.
