Exmar's Ammonia-Fuelled Vessel Completes Inaugural Commercial Voyage

Exmar's midsize gas carrier, Antwerpen, has completed its initial commercial voyage using ammonia as fuel, traveling from China to India. This vessel, with a capacity of 46,000 m3, was delivered last month and previously bunkered green ammonia at the Port of Ulsan.

It is the first of four ships designed for ammonia fuel. The operational success of the Antwerpen reflects advancements in ammonia dual-fuel technology, although the industry faces challenges in developing necessary bunkering infrastructure due to safety concerns surrounding ammonia's toxicity.
