Fabian Shaanika Joins Kudu Chemicals Board Amid N$1.03 Billion Sulphuric Acid Plant Plans
GMR's appointment of Fabian Shaanika to Kudu Chemicals' board aligns with a N$1.03 billion project for a sulphuric acid plant in Namibia. This facility aims to enhance local industrial capacity and reduce reliance on imports, supporting the mining sector's growth.

Green Metals Refining Ltd (GMR) has appointed Fabian Shaanika to the Kudu Chemicals board as it advances plans for a N$1.03 billion sulphuric acid plant near Walvis Bay. The project will produce 175,000 tonnes of sulphuric acid annually in its first phase, with potential scaling to 720,000 tonnes.
It aims to reduce Namibia's reliance on imports and support mining operations, particularly in copper and uranium. A scoping study confirmed its viability, projecting a pre-tax internal rate of return of 20%. Early interest from local operators indicates strong demand for domestic supply solutions, which could bolster Namibia's industrial base.
