Factorial and POSCO Future M Collaborate on Solid-State Battery Materials Development

ENERGY STORAGE

Factorial, a US battery developer, and POSCO Future M, a South Korean manufacturer, are collaborating on solid-state battery materials to enhance range and safety. They signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Berlin to combine their expertise in cathode and anode materials and cell integration.

The partnership aims to accelerate market readiness and establish a stable supply chain, with POSCO's components already showing high charge and discharge performance. Factorial will leverage its FEST technology for high energy density and safety, while POSCO will provide industrial material expertise.

Their goal includes creating a reliable global supply chain for cost-effective mass production of next-generation batteries. Current tests demonstrate the technology's potential, with a modified Mercedes-Benz EQS achieving 1,205 kilometers on a single charge. The partnership also supports applications in robotics and energy storage systems.
