Fairmont City Council approved a $22 million budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year, which funds strategic projects and includes a 3% pay raise for employees. The budget will be submitted to the state before the March 28 deadline.

The city submitted a $2.4 million funding request for the rehabilitation and dredging of the raw water reservoir and is preparing additional requests for wastewater treatment upgrades. Cleanup efforts from winter are underway, and the first opioid funding requests will be discussed on March 24. The council also expanded the Public Outdoor Designated Area and approved a rezoning ordinance for a 100-home development.
